CNET has recently done a video capturing shootout of six leading smartphone cameras. The contenders are SGS 4,  iPhone 5, HTC One, Nokia Lumia 920, Sony Xperia Z and Galaxy S3. CNET concludes that,

While the S4 took the top spot for its photography skills, its shaky footage means it’s not quite as impressive when it comes to video. The Lumia 920’s stabilisation was very impressive and its rich colours looked good too.

Great to see Lumia 920 taking the top spot in this latest video shootout. Lumia 925 may take this game one step ahead with its six element leans and new algorithms.

CNET periodically updates its list of smartphones with “Killer screen” where they include smartphones with best display quality. In the recent list updated on 3rd May, Lumia 920 is one of the listed devices in esteemed company of  1080p screens of SGS 4 and HTC One. In fact, Lumia 920 is the first on the list, though CNET mentions the list is not in a particular order. But CNET seems in awe of the Lumia 920 display which ironically is now discontinued on latest high-end Lumias Lumia 928 and 925.

Unlike its immediate predecessor, which used an AMOLED display, the Lumia 920 keeps it fresh with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display. The 1,280×768-pixel resolution (WXGA) and pixel density of 332 pixels per inch come together terrifically at all brightness levels. You’ll see deep blacks, rich colors, bright whites, and sharp text.

Nokia calls the Lumia 920’s screen “PureMotion+ HD” for a few reasons. First, if you set the screen’s sensitivity to high, you can navigate around using a fingernail and even gloves on a cold winter’s day. Second, the screen automatically brightens when you go outdoors in bright light. That will improve readability, even if it requires more battery contribution. Lastly, the display delivers smooth videos and graphics free of ghosting, blurring, and lags.
